Editorial policy
This page describes how Ski Brodie produces what it publishes, how it is funded, and what that does and does not change about what you read.
How subjects are chosen
Subjects come from what visitors to the Berkshires actually need to work out before arriving: how the season is structured, what a beginner package includes, whether a pass is worth buying, where to stay, and what is open in November. No business commissions a subject and none is chosen because a business asked for it.
How articles are written
Articles are written from published sources, public records, operator information and direct observation, and cross-checked where that is possible.
Perishable facts are handled deliberately. The site does not publish this season's prices, opening hours or holiday dates as though they were permanent — it explains how the pricing or the schedule is structured and sends the reader to the operator for the current figure. This ages better and misleads nobody in eighteen months' time.
Where a resort or business is named, it is named as a third party and described from the outside. The site never writes in the voice of a business, and never reproduces supplied promotional copy.
How the site is funded
Two ways, both of which are stated rather than hidden.
- Advertising. The site carries display advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over what is published and no advance sight of it. Adverts are not shown on the legal pages, the contact page or the error page.
- Editorial partnerships. Some articles carry links placed as part of a commercial arrangement. These never change the substance of an article, never turn a negative assessment into a positive one, and are never accepted on a subject where the link would be misleading to a reader.
What the site does not do: sell coverage, sell a favourable review, remove accurate criticism on request, or publish an article written by the business it is about.
Corrections
Errors are fixed, and quickly. Anyone — reader or business — can report one through the contact form.
A business that is described inaccurately will have it put right. A business that is described accurately but unflatteringly will not have the passage removed, and asking will not change that.
Updates
Articles carry the date they were published and the date they were last substantially revised. Where an article has been rewritten rather than tweaked, the revision date reflects the rewrite.
Independence
Ski Brodie is not affiliated with any resort, hotel or venue it writes about. The fuller statement is on the about page and the publisher's details are on the legal notice.
